Namasté

Namasté was a Brazilian band that formed in early 2002, going through several lineup changes before recording a 10-track independent CD in 2003 and touring multiple Brazilian cities. Despite gaining some regional radio airplay, internal logistics eventually caused lineup instability, which likely contributed to the band's dissolution around 2005.

About Namasté

"A new band but with a lot of history to tell. We'll start with the name: Namasté was the name given by the band's former drummer, Bernardo, who suggested it at our very first rehearsal — an Indian-origin word, closely tied to the practice of Yoga, meaning: "the God that dwells in my heart greets the God that dwells in yours." The band formed in early 2002, with a completely different lineup, with only two of the current members, Juliano (Kiko) and Scopel, later joined by Piru's. After some downtime, we met Bernardo, and a few rehearsals later, Danilo.

With this lineup, we played many covers and started writing our own material, which is what we currently perform at our shows. In early 2003, we finished recording our first independent CD, with 10 tracks, featuring the participation of Tubarão (Chipset Zero), who would travel to Salto to help with the recordings, and also featuring Karluz (????), helping us with his experience from previous work. To promote our first CD, we played shows in several cities, starting with the release party at Lual (Guarulhos).

We went through Itu, Salto, Rio Claro, Indaiatuba, Guarulhos, São Paulo, and Belo Horizonte. In July 2003, the song "Two" was played on the program A Vez do Brasil on 89FM, and in November 2004, the songs "Like a Star," "Born," and "Confused" were played on the program Distorção on UDESC Radio, in Florianópolis. Due to some issues caused by lineup changes (4 members were studying outside the city), certain ideas became very difficult to work out, leading to the departure of drummer Bernardo.

We currently have Heitor, who took over on drums about two months ago."
